Extracurricular Activity Programs to Support Students Whose Parents Are Working Abroad Will Be Implemented in 10 Schools in Moldova

August 03, 2020 – The concept that education means accumulating the largest possible volume of information is outdated and obsolete. Modern pedagogy emphasizes actions to consolidate theoretical knowledge, and extracurricular activities play a significant role.

Starting today, August 3, 2020, the Development Foundation is conducting online training for teachers who will implement two extracurricular activity programs in 10 schools nationwide: Activities through the STEAM approach and Life Skills.

The goal of these programs is to improve the academic achievement and psycho-emotional state of children in the 5th to 7th grades whose parents are working abroad, as well as their classmates.

The teachers’ work will be based on a detailed annual curriculum, a teacher’s guide with described activity models, and a student’s notebook for both courses.

The training sessions, held between August 3–6, 2020, are taking place within the framework of the project “Educational and Socio-Psychological Inclusion of Migrants’ Children,” implemented by the Development Foundation with the support of the Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation.

We remind you that the Project aims to improve the school environment to offer psychological and educational support and ensure the inclusion of children whose parents are working abroad; strengthen inter-sectoral cooperation and improve social, educational, and psychological assistance mechanisms for children whose parents are abroad; and develop a favorable policy framework for the same beneficiary group.
