Internationalization of higher education institutions in Moldova
The project, funded by WNISEF during 2024-2025, addresses challenges such as attracting international students to Moldovan universities, increasing the number of international students by promoting diversity, facilitating intercultural exchanges, and raising academic standards.
The project’s main objective is to enhance the recruitment of international students into Moldova’s higher education system and improve UTM’s experience with international students, while also aiming to enhance the academic staff at UTM.
As a pilot institution involved in the internationalization initiative launched by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, UTM aims to establish itself as a welcoming and inclusive institution, creating a supportive environment for international students and contributing significantly to the success of the government’s internationalization efforts.
The project seeks to strengthen and enhance higher education in Moldova, offering considerable advantages for international students, including:
- Programs taught in English.
- High-quality European education, as Moldova follows the Bologna Process, ensuring a standardized European higher education system. This aspect is particularly attractive to international students seeking globally recognized degrees and quality education.
- The opportunity to experience a different cultural environment. While adapting to a new culture can be challenging, it also provides valuable learning experiences and fosters intercultural exchanges.
